Struggling in a class doesn't mean that you are not good at it.
The NMH Service Learning Office (formerly Outreach Programs) works with advising groups, dorms, clubs, teams, and other student groups to organize projects like the ones mentioned here.
Got an idea for a student project you’d like to lead? You’ll get our full support. We invite you to contact us for more information. Students have begun projects here that have evolved beyond NMH. It all starts with an idea, the ability to be a leader, and the resolve to follow through.
Apply to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity, cook and serve community meals in nearby Greenfield, Massachusetts, celebrate the birthdays of children in homeless shelters, or be a Big Brother or Big Sister — and receive "workjob" credit while you're at it.
One-Day Events and Group Projects
Spend some time cleaning up the litter from the banks of the Connecticut River, belt out a tune to raise money for the United Way, or ante up a pint of blood. Make a collection of ceramic bowls to benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, and buy presents for local children for the holidays.
Move deeper into service learning by taking on a leadership role.
