NMH Welcomes New Chief Advancement Officer Trish Jackson

June 1, 2022 — Trish Jackson has been named chief advancement officer at Northfield Mount Hermon, beginning her duties on June 1, 2022.

“NMH is fortunate to have someone with Trish’s experience, wisdom, and energy to lead us forward as we prepare to launch our next fundraising campaign,” said Head of School Brian Hargrove.

Jackson brings to NMH an exceptional background. She has held leadership positions at top academic and nonprofit institutions including Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, Wheaton College, Geisel School Of Medicine and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, Brown University, and Dartmouth College. Most recently, she served as interim senior vice president for development and alumni engagement at The New School and as a consultant providing development leadership for the University of Vermont Health Network.

In addition, Jackson serves on the Scripps College Board of Trustees, where she chairs the Mission Fulfillment Committee, and on the board of the nonprofit Every Woman Treaty, an international coalition of women’s rights advocates, scholars, lawyers, frontline practitioners, and organizations. She is also a former chair of the Women’s Philanthropy Council at Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She received a bachelor’s degree from Scripps College and an MBA from Claremont Graduate University.

Jackson and her husband, Will Millard, emeritus professor of neuroscience at Mount Holyoke College, have a home in Norwich, Vermont, and are pleased to have the chance to come back to the Pioneer Valley.

Jackson succeeds Phil Hood P’24, who has served as chief advancement officer since 2020. 

“Phil has made important contributions to our school in his time here,” Hargrove said. “Of note, he brought new energy and focus to the NMH Fund as both contributions and donors increased, with total giving to the fund increasing by more than 25%. In addition, Phil recruited new team leadership to reflect emerging school priorities, he laid critical groundwork in anticipation of our forthcoming comprehensive campaign, he initiated our rebranding work to better reflect our school’s values and priorities, and he provided meaningful support to the board of trustees and the Alumni Council. 

“We will miss Phil; his wife, Lorelee; and their two children, Jack and Elin,” Hargrove added. “I ask you to join me in wishing them well in their next chapter as they return to their home in the Midwest.”

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have served at NMH,” said Hood. “A lot has been accomplished in a short period of time, and I’m grateful to Brian and the board for their support as our family makes this transition. It’s been a pleasure to get to know Trish, and I know that she will continue our forward momentum in her work with a great team of colleagues. I wish the school nothing but the best in times ahead.”

Jackson is looking forward to being present at both upcoming reunion weekends and has already been establishing contacts with alumni, parents, and friends of the school. “I am grateful to Phil for building such a strong team and operation to begin the forthcoming campaign, and I look forward to working with head, heart, and hands on behalf of Northfield Mount Hermon,” she said.
