Athletics Leadership Team

The athletics department has new leadership for the 2018–19 academic year. Greg Leeds P’16, ’18, ’22 — math teacher, director of NMH Summer Session, and Alpine ski coach — will serve as interim director, partnering with assistant directors Rebecca Capinera and John Carroll ’89, P’22. Interim Athletic Director

Greg Leeds P’16, ’18, ’22 

Experience: Mathematics teacher, Alpine ski coach, student advisor at NMH since 1996; Director of NMH Summer Session since 2005, including hiring/supervising 80 faculty annually.
Education: Williams College, Dartmouth College
Athletic highlights: Three New England Alpine skiing championship titles and 16 Mount Institute Ski League championship titles since 1997; The 2018 boys’ Alpine team was undefeated in MISL and NEPSAC competition (57-0) and won both MISL and New England class A championships. The 2018 girls’ team also won the MISL championship for the sixth straight year; former coach of boys’ and girls’ varsity soccer teams; NMH Housen Coaching Award for excellence in coaching; Co-founded Connecticut River Valley Soccer League; Co-president of Mount Institute Ski League; Certified soccer and skiing official.

Rebecca Capinera

Experience: Girls’ varsity soccer coach, athletic administrator, student advisor at NMH since 2016
Education: St. John’s University
Athletic highlights: Division I first assistant coach, 2009–15: St. Bonaventure, Marist, University of Massachusetts; Director of coaching, Southern Tier Premier Girls’ League; Director of goalkeeping, NY Rush Soccer Club; U.S. Olympic Development Program Coach, 2016–18;
U14 boys’ coach, director of goalkeeping, FC Massachusetts; United Soccer coaches licenses: National Diploma, Director of Coaching, and LGBT Diversity & Inclusion; NMH Coach of the Year, 2017; NMH Faculty Fellowship for Excellence in Athletics, 2017; At St. John’s: Big East All-Academic (goalkeeper): 2007, 2008, 2009.

Assistant Athletic Director

John Carroll ’89, P’22

Experience: Boys’ varsity basketball coach, admission officer, athletic administrator, student advisor at NMH since 2001 (13 years in admission, four in athletics) 
Education: Assumption College
Athletic highlights: NEPSAC AAA Coach of the Year: 2016, 2012; Positive Coaching Alliance National and New England Double-Goal Coach Award, 2016; New England Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee, 2015: prep player, college player, prep coach; NMH Coach of the Year, 2014; National Prep Champions, 2013; National Prep Championship Finalist: 2018, 2017, 2013, 2010; National Prep Championship Final Four: 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2010; New England Champions: 2018, 2016, 2012; At Assumption: Holds record for most 3-point shots in a season (110) and career (342); All-Conference, Northeast-10.
