Athlete of the Week: Bente Bechtold '20

Bente Bechtold '20, as stroke of the first boat, led her crew to an upset victory over St. Marks this weekend. She set an aggressive pace. Her crew took an early lead and never let up, averaging 39 strokes per minute for the entire race. 

Bente puts her head down, works hard, and does everything she can to help her crews win races. She started the season in the second boat and made it obvious over the last few weeks that the team needs her most in the first.

Yale University commit Richard Sturtevant ’19 ran against the most talented distance field in New England history in the 1,500. In the end, he finished with a new NMH school record of 3:56.61. He also owns the 3,000 record. Congratulations to Richard! Next up, New Balance National Championships in June.

Quinnipiac University hockey commit and softball captain Ally Watrous ’19 went 3 for 5 with a three-run home run in the ninth inning, 12-11 win over Deerfield Academy on Wednesday.

Wesleyan University hockey commit Mike Dunderdale ’19 fired one over par rounds on Wednesday and Friday, followed by a 5 over par on Saturday to help the NMH varsity golf team win three matches this week.

Laura Wu ’20 filled in on the #1 spot for NMH girls' varsity tennis due to an injury. She lost the first set of the match against a strong opponent, but battled back to take the second set 6-3 and won the tie-break 10-5 to help NMH to a 5-0 win on Wednesday against Worcester.

Boys' Varsity Ultimate

May 6, 2019

JD Pruett ’19 had 17 steals, 2 scores, and 13 assists to lead NMH boys' varsity Ultimate to a 3-1 weekend at the Greenfield Tournament. JD's performance helped NMH to wins in their first three matches as they went on to finish second in the 12-team field.
