Rhodes Arts Center

The arts program at NMH has a profound effect on our students’ lives.

Students are encouraged to participate, whether they are beginners or experienced artists, in a program that allows them the freedom to imagine, take creative risks, and be more fully themselves. Our arts faculty — experienced artists who recognize an inherent talent or when a student is holding back — strongly support developing artists, making them feel safe, valued, and inspired to take their dreams to the next level.

Simply put, our program has depth, and it works. In support of our belief that the arts are integral in educating the head, heart, and hand, we constructed a permanent and appropriate home for this outstanding program. The spectacular Rhodes Arts Center opened its doors to students in September 2008, bringing students and teachers, artists and audiences together, further strengthening our community and enhancing the educational experience for all.

William R. Rhodes '53, chairman emeritus of the NMH Board of Trustees, donated $5 million for the school’s new center for the arts. To honor his lead gift toward this critical project, as well as the faithful service and support given to the school by his father, Edward R. Rhodes '16, the arts center is named Rhodes Arts Center.
