Mobile Food Bank Volunteer Day

One of the ways NMH students learn and grow is through serving others.

Our service-learning program provides many opportunities for students to give back to the broader community.

Students regularly volunteer at local community meals offered by the Franklin County Community Meals Program and a nearby mobile food bank run by the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Students also help at annual events, such as the Connecticut River Conservancy’s Source to Sea Cleanup.

In November, NMH students once again assisted at the mobile food bank. And throughout the month, they assembled brown-bag meals for the Franklin County Community Meals Program.

In December, the Junior and Senior Dance Companies decorated bags to fill with toiletries for local homeless shelters and created holiday cards for residents of a nearby nursing home, while members of the Fiber Arts Club knitted hats to donate to area shelters.

Throughout the fall, students in the NMH Honors Chamber Orchestra visited several local elementary schools to perform for younger students and serve as role models and teachers.
