Golf at NMH

Ranked as one of the top 100 new courses in the country, the Robert Trent Jones designed Crumpin-Fox golf course is home to the Northfield Mount Hermon coed varsity and junior varsity golf team. A course rating of 73.8 and slope of 141 presents golfers with a fresh challenge every round.

Our golfers compete with the best programs in the NEPSAC, with many going on to compete on the collegiate level in the NESCAC, as well as other schools in the Northeast and beyond. The NMH program also provides the opportunity to train year-round as well, with our dedicated indoor space featuring the Trackman Simulator.

Mace Foehl is the head coach of the varsity golf team and she has been a significant presence in NMH athletics for years, as a mathematics teacher and coach. Mace, who has been the recipient of the Houson Coaching award, guided the varsity field hockey team for 25 seasons, winning a NEPSAC Class championship in 1995.

Mace is a regular competitor in Massachusetts State Amateur golf tournaments and is a Rules Official for Mass Golf.  She has won the State Mother-Daughter tournament and the State Mother-Son Tournament with her children, and she has qualified for the State individual Women’s tournament several times over the years. Mace was recently elected to the Massachusetts Golf Association Board of Directors . In addition, Mace is currently on the Massachusetts State Team committee as Part of the USGA’s U.S. National Development Program.

Mace is married to Nate Hemphill, who serves in the college counseling office at NMH. Their children, Cooper Hemphill ’14 and Mackey Corrigan ’11 both teach and coach at New England boarding schools.
