At Northfield Mount Hermon, being a scholar-athlete means finding success both on the field and in the classroom. Two NMH teams were recently recognized for that commitment on a national level.
Last month, the United Soccer Coaches announced its 2025-26 High School Team Academic Award winners, recognizing teams that earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Of the 223 teams recognized nationwide, just 29 schools saw both their boys’ and girls’ soccer programs earn the distinction.
Northfield Mount Hermon was one of those schools.
The NMH boys’ team earned a 3.50 team GPA, while the girls’ team posted a 3.67 team GPA.These numbers represent more than a team statistic. The award is based on the GPA of every player on the roster, making it a true reflection of collective effort.

“Winning a national academic team award is a tremendous accomplishment, and it reflects the dedication our athletes bring both in competition and in the classroom,.” Amy Haefele, coach of the girls’ team, said. “I’m incredibly proud of the way this team has embraced the importance of excellence in every area.”
Balancing a rigorous academic schedule with practices, games, travel, and life on campus takes discipline and commitment. At NMH, that balance is part of what it means to be a scholar-athlete.
“I feel honored to be part of a school that values both academic and athletic excellence while prioritizing the overall well-being of our students,” said Athletics Director Telia Marks-McCall.“I’m also proud that NMH is one of only three New England Preparatory School Athletic Council schools to receive this honor.”
Congratulations to our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams for this well-deserved recognition.
