Class of 2026’s Scholar-Athletes Look to Future

Class of 2026’s Scholar-Athletes Look to Future

The Class of 2026 has left a remarkable mark on Northfield Mount Hermon athletics, with 52 student-athletes from 14 sports set to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. The group includes 19 Division I commitments, four Division II commitments, and 21 Division III commitments. In addition, some will continue their athletics careers internationally, at Simon Fraser University in Canada and St. Andrew’s University in Scotland.

From NEPSAC playoff runs and school records to everyday leadership and dedication, this senior class has helped shape one of the strongest years in recent NMH athletics history. Their success reflects not only their talent in their sports but also the commitment they have shown in the classroom and throughout the community.

“This group has truly represented what it means to be a student athlete,” said Interim Athletics Director Mike Shelton. “To see 52 seniors competing at the next level across all divisions is a testament to their hard work, resilience, and passion for their sport.”

For many athletes, the recruiting process was years in the making. Balancing academics, training, traveling, and competing required consistency and determination throughout their time at NMH.

“NMH gave me the opportunity to try out rowing, and I immediately loved it,” said senior Sarah Olson, who will study and compete at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “Rowing in college has been my goal for the last four years, and I’m so excited for this next chapter.!”

Coaches across the department emphasized the leadership and culture this class brought to their teams.

“We’re super grateful that these families chose NMH and what they’ve done for our program. Whether this is their first year on campus or they joined us as 9th-graders, they helped raise the standard, “ said Zack Bates, head wrestling coach. “NMH is proud of their accomplishments and excited for what’s next.”

As graduation approaches, the Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond wins and statistics. Their impact on NMH athletics will continue to be felt for years to come, while their journeys as collegiate student-athletes are only just beginning.
