In this immersive, field-based learning experience, you won’t only learn about sustainability as a concept; you’ll explore how it’s practiced, challenged, and shaped in real-world contexts as you
engage with landscapes, infrastructure, and communities that are actively responding to environmental change.
Iceland offers a rare level of clarity on environmental impact: Tectonic plates are visible at the surface, glaciers are retreating at measurable rates, renewable energy is embedded in daily life, and communities are continuously adapting to environmental change.
Within the relatively small geographic area of Iceland, you will experience the connections between climate, energy, ecosystems, and society in direct and tangible ways. Through field experiences, guided discussions, and meetings with local people and experts, you will engage with both the scientific and human dimensions of sustainability.
