March Trip: Language Immersion in the Dominican Republic

Spanish Language and Cultural Immersion

Five smiling young people stand on a balcony with a city and mountains visible in the background under a cloudy sky.

In this program based in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, you will advance your Spanish-language skills in an immersive environment where you interact meaningfully with local people and cultural events.

Students will live with host families, participate in daily language classes in Santiago, explore historical sites, and engage in a variety of cultural activities. Excursions will include visits to the Cabarete region, Cayo Arena, and the Los Pepines murals.

In the foreground, a group of young people hold up small plants wrapped in bark, while the background is a lush, green forest with dense foliage.

Six young people, some sitting on colorful tires in the foreground, are gathered outdoors with trees and a fence in the background.

As you develop your Spanish proficiency, you will uncover narratives of resistance, sustainability, and Dominican culture, applying your understanding of global systems to a local context.
