Meet the Staff
Peter Jenkins is director of college counseling at NMH and a longtime English teacher and former crew coach. He has been at NMH since 1986, and previously worked at the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland, and Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. He graduated from Northwestern University and earned a master’s degree at the University of Chicago. He is married to retired NMH math teacher and crew coach Vicky Jenkins; they shepherded five children through the college admission process and survived.

Anne Atkins will serve as NMH’s associate director of college counseling. She has been Vermont Academy’s director of college counseling for the past nine years, and previously, she served NMH as an associate dean, dorm head, and coach, and will return to NMH in her new role on July 1. Atkins is a graduate of the University of Vermont.
Molly Brown is a college counselor and assists with our girls’ soccer and basketball programs. Molly earned a bachelor’s in psychology from Bates College. Prior to NMH, Molly worked at Hebron Academy’s Academic Guidance Center. She has been an assistant coach in women’s basketball at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and Connecticut College. At Bates, she was a member of the basketball and softball teams.

Jim Burstein ’87 is a college counselor, boys’ varsity soccer co-head coach, and the Jewish students’ advisor. After attending NMH, he graduated from Connecticut College and earned a master’s in counseling psychology from Boston College. He has worked at NMH since 2006 and spent the previous nine years as a college counselor, guidance counselor, and boys’ varsity soccer coach at Newton North High School in Massachusetts. One of his sons graduated in the NMH Class of 2019, and his other son is in the NMH Class of 2023.

Jen Davenport came to NMH in 2011, and has worked in the College Counseling Office since 2013. Previously, she was a biology teacher and basketball/softball coach at Stoneleigh-Burnham School. Jen graduated from Stoneleigh-Burnham and Westfield State University. In her current role, Jen provides support for all of the counselors, manages the college-visit calendar, and oversees Naviance (database used to manage college applications). She serves as the contact for college coaches requesting academic materials for prospective student-athletes. Jen also assists athletes with NCAA eligibility center questions.

Nate Hemphill has worked at NMH since 1991 and joined the College Counseling Office in 2010. A Dartmouth and Yale graduate, Nate is a longtime math teacher and has also been a Student Life Dean and the Director of Faculty Recruitment. He is the parent of two NMH graduates.
