Northfield Mount Hermon is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory school, located in western Massachusetts, with approximately 650 boarding and day students in grades 9 through 12, and a postgraduate year.

NMH employs approximately 130 people in teaching and administrative faculty positions, and more than 210 in staff positions. Some jobs are year-round; others offer an academic-year schedule or are part-time. Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an energetic individual to carry-out campus custodial services. Responsibilities include general cleaning, floor cleaning, rubbish and recycling removal, building maintenance, the provision of occasional set-up and moving services for the school and school events, and other duties as assigned.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills, and outstanding organizational and communication skills.  Two to three years previous experience preferred. The ability to communicate and work well with adolescents is required. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently.  This position requires the ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform repetitive motion tasks. Occasional overtime may be required.Applicants must possess a demonstrated interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents and to work with a diverse student body in a boarding school environment.

Per Diem Nurse

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an experienced nurse to provide nursing care to the NMH student community.  The position is responsible for patient assessments and treatment plans according to medical and health services guidelines, referring students to the school’s physician as appropriate. All nursing staff assists in the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date medical records.

The successful applicant will have an RN or LPN degree and current Massachusetts license; previous emergency, adolescent or family medicine experience preferred; outstanding organizational, written and communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills essential.  The ability to administer medications according to guidelines is required. Additional qualifications include attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently in an overnight capacity

PT Dining Services

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an energetic individual to assist in all areas of dining services. This is a part time position for the academic year, various schedules available. Job responsibilities include the preparation of cold menu food service items, maintaining cleanliness of dining rooms, offices, restrooms, and storage areas in support of a residential dining program, dishwashing duties and may assist with deliveries to campus catered events.

 he successful applicant will have a high school diploma or equivalent experience; food service experience preferred, will train; outstanding organizational, communication and interpersonal skills a must. Groundskeeper

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an energetic individual to maintain the safety and physical appearance of the athletic facilities including the hockey rink and pool facility and at times, assist with the outdoor campus landscape. Other responsibilities include support and the collection and disposal of rubbish, recycling and surplus materials for the school and other duties as assigned. 

The successful applicant must be able to acquire and maintain licenses needed for pest control in the turf industry; previous athletic field & grounds maintenance experience is preferred; the ability to work in adverse weather conditions is required. Successful applicants will have outstanding interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.  Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. The ability to work well with adolescents is required. This position requires: the ability to lift approximately 75 pounds and perform repetitive motion tasks, a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a DOT,  2B and 1C hoisting license is required. Flexibility in weekly work schedule, some scheduled weekend work as well as overtime is required and must be available for 24-hour emergency call for snow removal.

Overnight Security Officer

Northfield Mount Hermon, seeks a trustworthy, self-motivated individual to be responsible for the safety and well being of all NMH residents. The security officer is responsible for the safety and security of buildings; reports infractions of safety and school rules and answers switchboard and alarm receiver calls. This position dispatches or responds to all emergencies, provides contact for emergency responders, and/or compiles emergency information on log sheet.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. This position requires a valid driver’s license and knowledge of CPR/AED. Applicants must be willing to work off-shift as needed and occasional overtime is required.

Substitute Teacher - Early Childhood Education

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks caring individuals to work with teachers and the Director in developing and carrying out the philosophy and curriculum of the Bolger Center for Early Education and Care. This position will be responsible for the care and supervision of children ages fifteen months to five years old. 

The successful applicant will have a good understanding of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC); previous experience, including the ability to work closely with others in a team teaching environment. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and writing skills, as well as outstanding communication and interpersonal skills along with Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care Teacher Certification.  Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. The ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements and demonstrate professional respectful attitudes towards children, parents, and colleagues is essential. U Penn Residency Program

The University of Pennsylvania's Penn Residency Master's in Teaching program is a groundbreaking collaboration between the Penn Graduate School of Education and a consortium of the nation's leading Boarding Schools. With an innovative and comprehensive curriculum designed specifically for the boarding schools' unique setting, the program provides aspiring teachers an opportunity to receive a master's degree in education in concert with the exceptional fellowship programs offered by participating schools.

Adjunct Religious Studies & Philosophy Teacher

Northfield Mount Hermon School, an independent co-educational boarding school in western Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic individual to teach religious studies and philosophy in an integrated humanities curriculum designed to foster an understanding of and appreciation for the many ways in which both individuals and societies are affected by religious experience. This position is for the spring semester of 2019-2020, start date is January 6, 2020.

The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in religious studies, philosophy or related field (master’s preferred) and the ability to teach a variety of introductory and intermediate level religious studies courses including ethics, philosophy, and world religions. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary curriculum. 

Responsibilities will include teaching two sections of World Religions and Contemporary Issues.  Position may include dorm duty responsibilities. On-campus housing to be determined.

Athletic Director

The Director of Athletics is responsible for leadership, development, oversight and evaluation of the school’s competitive interscholastic athletic programs, physical fitness activities and outdoor education program, including facilities management and development in support of the programs.  The Director of Athletics is also responsible for articulating, stewarding, and interpreting a comprehensive vision for NMH Athletics, ensuring that its activities are consistent with and supportive of the school’s mission to educate the head, heart, and hand, and promote the important values of student well-being, physical fitness, development of healthy habits, integrity, leadership, and teamwork.  

The successful applicant will have a  Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in relevant field preferred and substantial experience in athletics as both a head coach and athletic administrator, at either the secondary school level or higher education.  Candidates must have excellent organizational and decision-making skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Familiarity with rules and regulations of relevant athletic associations required. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently.
