Part Time Custodian - 6 am - 10 am (20 hrs/week)

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an energetic individual to carry-out campus custodial services. Responsibilities include general cleaning, floor cleaning, rubbish and recycling removal, building maintenance, the provision of occasional set-up and moving services for the school and school events, and other duties as assigned.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills, and outstanding organizational and communication skills. Two to three years previous experience preferred. The ability to communicate and work well with adolescents is required. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. This position requires the ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform repetitive motion tasks. This is a part time position, averaging 20 hrs/week.

Major Gift Officer - Advancement Office

 

The NMH Advancement Office is looking for a  motivated development professional to serve in an important fundraising role in securing philanthropic revenue for NMH and expanding donor support. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the  Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of current and prospective alumni and parent donors; creating strategic action plans for top prospects with the intent of deepening relationships on behalf of NMH.  This work will lead to increased comprehensive giving including annual, capital, and deferred gifts. This position requires decisiveness and judgment, discretion and professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential information, and excellent goal and task management.

The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and at least 3 years of fundraising experience, including skills/experience relevant to securing leadership annual gifts and/or major gifts which can include frontline fundraising, financial advising and estate planning; knowledge of contemporary philanthropy and the vehicles available to individuals to achieve their philanthropic goals preferred.  Candidates must have outstanding organizational, technical, oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products preferred and experience with Raiser’s Edge or comparable fundraising software is highly desired. Candidates should be active listeners who are curious, decisive, and able to go beyond routine questions to gain in-depth understanding of needs and projects. Substitute Teachers - Bolger Center for Early Childhood Education

HVAC Technician

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an energetic individual to perform duties necessary to operate, maintain and optimize the school’s heating, ventilating, air conditioning and electrical systems in order to ensure the safe and optimal operations of the physical plant’s HVAC system and provide a comfortable environment in all areas of the campus including classrooms, laboratories and offices.

The successful applicant will possess a current MA Refrigeration Technicians License and a current MA Sheet Metal Workers License at the Journey Person/unrestricted level. Pipefitter License, Plumbing and Gas Fitters License and Oil Burner Technician License preferred. Applicants must possess 3-5 years experience in HVAC work at an intermediate skill level and have the ability to work with computer assisted HVAC systems. Basic knowledge of refrigeration cycles, air treatment and heating cycles is preferred. Applicants must have the ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and basic wiring diagrams, have the ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values, and must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.

Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, as well as possessing outstanding written and oral communications skills. Applicants must have excellent organizational and decision-making skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and the ability to balance independent and collaborative work. This position is required to work flexible hours and be on call during interim periods, a valid driver’s license is required.

Carpenter Lead

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks an experienced individual to supervise in house carpenters, locksmiths and painters and be responsible for the carpentry department and the performance of carpentry maintenance and repair of campus campus buildings and housing. The carpenter lead will participate in the development of drawings, estimates, and ordering materials for all projects of the carpentry department as well as various on site contractors.

The successful applicant will possess a Construction Supervisor License for 1 and 2 family dwellings; Construction Supervisor License for commercial buildings; valid driver’s license and have a minimum of 5 years experience in building, renovating and planning projects.  Applicants must be able to read construction blueprints and CAD drawings and understand the International Building Code and its relation to NMH buildings and properties. Additional qualifications include the ability to operate machinery and power tools, understanding and creating Auto Cad plans and the ability work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently.  Occasional overtime and availability for call in work is required.

Farm Assistant

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic and creative individual to serve as a Farm Assistant. The farm assistant at the NMH Farm reports to the Farm Director, and is responsible for helping with all aspects of the daily operation of the farm.  Responsibilities include supporting overall farm operations, crop and product production, animal care, farm store management and order fulfillment, student supervision, and support of campus-wide initiatives. This position will work closely with students and will be responsible for supervising students in the work program.

The successful applicant will preferably have three to five years of farm experience; supervisory and/or teaching experience helpful. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, plant science, or a related field is preferred but not required.  This position requires the ability to do heavy lifting and to work the long hours in all weather conditions associated with farming. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently.  Some weekend and evening work required on a rotational basis, some travel on occasion.
