Strength and Conditioning Coach

Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent co-educational boarding school in Western Massachusetts, seeks a certified, energetic, and experienced Strength and Conditioning Coach. The candidate will work in coordination with and under the direction of the Director of Athletics in the delivery of specific strength training programs for sports teams, individual athletes and faculty/staff. Additionally, the chosen candidate will play a critical role in refining the Physical Education Programs. This position includes daily interaction with student-athletes who participate in a broad athletic program featuring over 65 different athletic teams/activities.

Candidates should have experience at both high school and collegiate level and have an understanding of the physiological spectrum of high school athlete development through adolescence and be able to design dynamic programs to meet team and individual needs. This position will assist with the development of exercise routines, nutritional intake, exercise supervision, tracking athlete progress and adjusting exercise plans accordingly.

Assistant Director, Admission

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic and motivated individual to ­­­­­identify, recruit, and enroll qualified prospective students and families in accordance with the NMH mission. Each Assistant Director will be responsible for a specific geographic area. Territory responsibilities include travel, phone communication, interviewing and other responsibilities as assigned. Unique to the admission program responsibilities, the Assistant Director will be responsible for an applicant review committee as well as residential duty.

The successful applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years related experience; outstanding organizational, written, communication, and interpersonal skills preferred. The ability to travel frequently is required. Candidates must have the ability to process and hold confidential information and exercise independent judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and other web-based software is desired. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. Ability to work flexible hours and be on call during interim periods, some night and evening work.

English Teacher

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic individual to teach English in an interdisciplinary humanities curriculum designed to develop the mastery of verbal skills; reading with discrimination; writing with clarity; listening with sensitivity; and speaking with conviction. This position begins with the fall semester of the 2018-2019 academic year.

The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in English, American Studies, or related discipline, as well as experience teaching English (preferably at the secondary level); Advanced degree preferred. Candidates must be able to teach a variety of introductory, intermediate, and advanced English courses. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and knowledge of current technologies for teaching.

Advanced Practitioner

Working in collaboration with the Director of Medicine and others as appropriate, the advanced practitioner provides direct clinical health care services to a residential adolescent population, supports the development and provision of health and wellness educational programs for the NMH student community and serves as administrative lead in the absence of the Director of Medicine.

The successful applicant will have the appropriate and current certification to practice as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; 3 to 5 years experience in an outpatient clinical setting; direct experience with an adolescent population preferred. The ability to obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations, formulate a diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan, and order and/or perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures is required. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. This position will serve in an on-call rotation with the Director of Medicine. Evening and weekend work expected and scheduled as necessary.

Mathematics Teacher

Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent co-educational boarding school in western Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic individual to teach in a challenging secondary level mathematics program that ranges from first-year algebra through multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and number theory. This position begins with the fall semester of the 2018-2019 academic year.

The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field (master’s preferred) with a background sufficient to teach at least through Calculus, ideally including Statistics; experience teaching mathematics (4-5 years), and a knowledge of and experience with curricular design and development. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and experience using technology in the classroom, including graphing calculators, computer-based math applications and Google Apps for Education. Experience teaching computer science will be a plus for this position. Knowledge of Robotics is desirable but not essential.

Science Teacher

The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or experience teaching chemistry at the high school level. Preference may be given to candidates who also possess the ability to teach at the advanced placement level and/or have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
