Student Artists Celebrated

Northfield Mount Hermon students once again had a strong showing in the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers’ Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a nonprofit that “identifies and supports the next generation of creative voices.”

In this year’s competition, NMH students won 12 Gold Keys and 23 Silver Keys, along with many Honorable Mentions, in the regional competition, which includes Massachusetts.

Regional Gold Key winners advance to the national competition, where, this year, NMH students earned one Gold Medal and four Silver Medals.

“There is so much talent in our student population,” said Mona Seno, visual arts teacher. “While some of the pieces were made in our classes, many were created outside of class and during the summer. It’s so exciting to see the student work formerly unbeknownst to us, and I’m grateful every year that the students are willing to share their work with the community.”

In 2025, nearly 110,000 teens from the United States and Canada entered more than 310,000 original works in the competition, across 28 categories of art and writing.
