Honor Society Welcomes New Members

The Northfield Mount Hermon chapter of the Cum Laude Society welcomed 16 new members this week at the all-school meeting in Memorial Chapel.

Cum Laude, an independent school national honor society, is considered the secondary school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa. Nominees must show academic achievement and integrity consistent with the society’s principles of moral excellence (areté), justice (diké), and honor (timé) throughout their academic career.

“I could not be more proud of this group of young scholars, who embody the character, scholarship, and integrity of the Cum Laude Society,” said Joe Latimer, president of the NMH chapter and the school’s director of college counseling. “I look forward to their many more contributions to our community as their senior year continues to unfold.”

The 16 seniors recently named to the NMH chapter were selected based on their junior-year cumulative GPAs and represent the top 10% of the Class of 2027. They will be officially inducted into the society at a ceremony in the spring, alongside classmates selected based on their fall-semester GPAs.

The fall 2026 inductees to the Cum Laude Society gathered in Memorial Chapel with advisors and other adults.
