Celebrating Academic Excellence with Cum Laude

Eighteen members of the Northfield Mount Hermon Class of 2023 have been elected to the Cum Laude Society, joining 18 classmates who received the honor in the fall.

Head of School Brian Hargrove announced the new members at an all-school meeting on March 24.

“One of the ways we honor outstanding academic achievement at NMH is by selecting students for the Cum Laude Society,” Hargove said. “Please join me in congratulating them on receiving this honor.”

Each year, seniors with outstanding academic records are elected to the Cum Laude Society, the independent school national honor society and the secondary-school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa.

The newest members were elected to the society based on their junior and senior year records. In addition, Hargrove recognized four postgraduates and one-year seniors for academic records that would qualify them for Cum Laude; students must attend a school for at least two years to qualify. In the fall semester, 18 seniors were elected to early membership based on their junior-year records.
