Northfield Golf Club

The Northfield Golf Club in Northfield, Massachusetts is a semi-private nine-hole golf course.

In October 2013, Northfield Mount Hermon and Snow & Sons entered into an agreement to sell the Northfield Golf Club properties to the Snow family of Leyden, Mass. The Snows are the owners of Snow & Sons Tree & Landscaping of Greenfield, Mass., which has has a long-standing working relationship with the school, including maintaining the golf course since 2011.

Snow's long-term goal is to build a family-event center that could accommodate social events and other gatherings.

Head of School Peter Fayroian said, "Selling the golf course is part of the school's effort to complete its consolidation to one campus. I'm very pleased by the likelihood of this sale to a local business owner and member of the community. Ed Snow has already clearly demonstrated his care for the Northfield area, and I'm confident we'll see this commitment demonstrated in his plans for the property."

Designed by Alex Findlay, this “links” style nine-hole course was constructed at the turn of the century and opened in 1901; the current layout opened for play in 1912.

The Northfield Golf Club is a well designed and carefully maintained mature course. The fairways are narrow and tree-lined, there is excellent hole variety, and the small, fast greens keep the course interesting and appealing to both skilled golfers and those just learning how to play the game.

Water hazards come into play on the two par 3’s, including the signature hole #6. At 175 yards from the blue tees, there’s water to the right and out of bounds to the left, as well as two large sand bunkers to the left and right of the green.

Electric golf carts and pull carts are available for rent and the air conditioned clubhouse has a good selection of golf balls, tees, gloves, and other apparel for sale. Beer, wine, soda, and juices are available, as well as hot dogs and other snacks throughout the day.
