Upward Bound is a college preparation program for low-income, first-generation college-bound students and is funded by the US Department of Education. The program has hosted by Northfield Mount Hermon School for 43 years. The mission of Upward Bound is to provide young people with the tools they need to be successful in high school and in higher education. Upward Bound provides intensive academic and social supports to students from Greenfield High School, Turners Falls High School, Holyoke High School, Springfield Central High School, Springfield Renaissance School, and the High School of Science and Technology in Springfield. Services include a six-week intensive Summer Academy and year-round tutoring, advising, after-school programs, test preparation, assistance with college and financial aid applications, cultural trips, college visits, career exploration, and leadership development.
