SUMMER TUTOR COUNSELOR INTERNS AND COLLEGE WORK STUDY STUDENTS NEEDED
June 14th – July 30th, 2010.
Teach, tutor, guide, inspire, organize, lead, and support first generation/low income high school students who are preparing for college. Learn more than you can imagine about young people, educational equity, and your own strengths and abilities.
As an intern you might teach a small section, assist a seasoned teacher, develop and lead an elective, supervise students in dorm and recreational activities, tutor students, and assist with trips and events. Training and ongoing support and mentoring help you achieve your personal goals and grow in your roles over the seven weeks.
These residential positions are both extremely demanding and rewarding. The positions are particularly well suited to college or graduate students interested in exploring possible careers in education, social justice or counseling
Paid and unpaid internships available depending on how your skills match our needs. Room and board provided. Interns are free on most weekends.
ACADEMIC YEAR TUTORS NEEDED
Make a difference in the lives of first generation and low-income college bound youth. Assist with homework, test preparation, tutoring and college applications in our after school programs in Greenfield, Turners, Springfield or Holyoke High Schools. The program meets between 2:30 and 5:00 p.m. (exact times vary by site) Mondays through Thursdays Tutors should have strengths in several academic areas including high school Math, Science, English, History, Spanish, French, Chinese and Latin, experience working with teens, and the ability to engage and motivate college bound youth. Tutors must have transportation to one or more schools. Experience working in multicultural settings preferred.
