Write a review of James Kynge's book, China Shakes the World: A Titan’s Rise and Troubled Future – And the Challenge for America.  Your book review should be in the form of a polished essay of about three pages of text (not including the required footnotes and bibliography) printed and double-spaced in 12 point font. Due in class, Friday, November 30.

Note that a book review is NOT a book report (a mere summary). It is a critical assessment of a book which may include a summary of the main ideas, but which concentrates its efforts on showing whether the author makes a convincing case and why or why not. Use your reading notes and written responses to readings as your guide. I advise you to consult one or more of the book review sources at the Arts and Letters Daily web page to see how "the pros" do it. An excellent recent example is Louis Menand's review of Margaret Macmillan's book on President Nixon's 1972 visit to China.

I suggest that, to ensure getting the paper done on time, you print somewhere other than our classroom building on the day the review is due.
