NMH has been a leader in academic technology since the 1970s, and our nationally recognized educational technology program continually sets new benchmarks for combining computers with a world-class curriculum. Our students and teachers use award-winning technology in classrooms, libraries, and dorms. Each student at NMH has access to a broad range of computer technology for class assignments, research, and communication.
Students at NMH are able to take advantage of a technology-rich environment that allows them to become involved with high-tech equipment at all levels. Students use computers both in and out of class. Those who are particularly interested in technology can find opportunities to continue their exploration in the Residential Computer Consultant program, which requires you take a class and then have the opportunity to use this skill set as your work job. You also have clubs like GEECS (Geeks for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and AMET (Advanced Mechanical Engineering and Technology), a student-run robotics team to enhance your computer knowledge.
Leading-Edge Systems
Our campuswide network connects every student room, classroom, lounge, and office at the school. Students use this network to connect to the Internet and the World Wide Web.
The Virtual Desktop: Using an innovative technology, students have personalized access to a variety of software tools and information resources using any computer on campus and nearly any computer anywhere in the world. Once logged in, they are able to immediately see and interact with both their own personal desktop and the Microsoft Office software. NMH calls this a virtual desktop on which students can access email, personal documents, and school software.
SWIS (School-Wide Information Service): the school's email and conferencing system. Hundreds of conferences are used daily by NMH students, faculty, and administration to communicate school news, submit assignments, and share ideas.
