Sustainability Green Cup 2008

NMH Community Green Cup Challenge

WHO: Day student families, NMH staff living off campus, NMH faculty not living in student housing

WHAT: Those households who choose to compete will make sustainable electricity-saving changes to their houses during the month of February to see who can save the most electricity compared to their average winter electricity consumption.

WHERE: In the home

WHEN: January 15 to February 15, or the closest month in electric-bill cycles

WHY: To prevent the emission of greenhouse gasses and other pollutants from power plants

HOW: By submitting electric bills from the month of February, with a record of electricity use from December and January, to Becca Leslie by 9 am on Monday, February 25.

PRIZES

First Place:

  • Hand-made quilt donated by Sudi-Laura Overstreet, $30 gift certificate to Ristorante DiPaolo's in Turners Falls donated by Karen Levitt, and a professional massage donated by Megan Bathory-Peeler

Second Place:

  • Hand-knit vest or shawl donated by Carol Lebo and an Italian dinner for two cooked by Dick Peller and Ellen Turner

Third Place:

  • One week of soup and sandwich combos at the Gill Store donated by Charlie Tierney and Gina Onushco, and a basket of NMH goodies donated by the NMH Annual Fund office
