Lower Soccer Field Naming

Goal
To raise a total of $500,000 and to name one of the two lower soccer fields in honor of Coach Dick Peller.

Why
Coach Peller has been a beloved and influential presence on NMH athletic fields since 1976, when he began as head coach of the boys varsity soccer team. He coached the team until 1991 (lending his feisty spirit to more than 240 games); along the way the Hoggers won four Dunbar Cups, placed seven times in the top four at the New Englands, and won three New England championships. Coach Peller has also coached wrestling, tennis, baseball, and girls soccer—and he’s a whiz of a math teacher. The lessons he teaches in integrity, teamwork, and motivation reach far beyond the playing field.

With your help, we will reach our goal of $500,000 and dedicate the field at a special celebration in fall 2007.

the ultimate match
To honor Coach Peller’s years of mentorship, John Berg ’80, a current trustee, former soccer player, and friend of the Pellers, has offered a special incentive for this project. He will match any gift up to $250,000. That means if a donor gives $100, the project will receive $200; if the gift is $1,000, the project will receive $2,000—and so on!
