Gilder Center fundraising goal:
Northfield Mount Hermon has unveiled the design for a $36 million science and math center that one day will serve as home to the school’s innovative new math, science, and engineering curriculum. Sporting a sleek, modern look that blends gracefully into the hillside campus, the Gilder Center for Integrative Math and Science Education will house traditional classrooms as well as a range of innovative teaching spaces, including a makerspace and five mastery suites specifically designed to support a mastery-based learning process.
When Richard Gilder ’50 said he would give NMH $10 million toward a new math and science center, the faculty was encouraged to dream big. This new building, along with a new collaborative mastery-based curriculum, will put NMH at the cutting edge of math and science education.
NMH hopes to open the center by September 2020, but that date is tentative, as construction cannot begin until all funding for the center has been raised.
