Capital gifts are major gifts that help meet building and endowment needs. These gifts ensure the future of Northfield Mount Hermon by providing for brick-and-mortar building projects or supporting endowed funds that are used for the operating budget. Major gifts may be in the form of cash, securities, personal property, or other assets. Donors should consult with their tax advisor to understand fully the consequences of such a gift.

Establishing an Endowed Fund at NMH
The gifts contributed to an endowment are referred to as the "principal" or "corpus." These gifts always remain untouched and are invested. Only interest income is used to support the purposes of the endowment.
