Student Leadership Groups
STUDENT GOVERNANCE
- Student Congress (SC)
Dean of Students Nicole Hager serves as the advisor to this group, which meets Sunday evenings. Two representatives from each dorm are elected, in addition to the three chairs who were elected the previous spring. Day students have two elected representatives as well. Several members of SC serve on transition committees, and each branch of SC (residential and academic) has a link to the respective branches of faculty governance. - Student Life Committee
This committee, chaired by a faculty member, is part of the faculty governance system and includes six students. The group meets weekly and has been charged with several tasks related to residential restructuring for a one-campus school.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
- Student Leaders
Each house has student leaders―a role considered the highest honor that the school gives to a senior―who are role models and mentors for students in the houses. As members of the house staff, student leaders provide a link between faculty and students. They are selected through a competitive application process. - Resident Advisors
These are senior, postgraduate, and junior students chosen by the house staff to plan social and athletic activities, recognize birthdays, provide celebrations, and other house support duties. - Peer Educators
Peer eds are trained in health education to serve as resource people for other students. They play an active role in empowering their peers to make healthy and safe choices through education, responsible decision making, and support; identify situations of concern; make referrals; and develop informative and interactive workshops. - Peer Mediators
Trained intensively before school begins, peer mediators are active, unbiased listeners who help students resolve interpersonal conflicts with each other or with faculty.
