The boys dorms and the girls dorms at Northfield Mount Hermon offer a wide variety of living spaces. If you like lots of people around all the time, we have a house that accommodates 150 students. If you like living on a smaller scale, there’s a house for just 14. Each has its own personality: one is known for school spirit, another for the diversity of its residents.
The dorms have great amenities too. One has giant bedrooms, another, a garden lounge. Some have terraces or a TV room; you might find a snack bar or a full kitchen. They all have a public computers and a printer and of course you can access the Internet and NMH network from your room.
Even if you’re a day student, you’re assigned a house, where you share a room with a desk you can study at and even a bed you can nap in. You’re welcome to bring posters, pictures, or a beloved stuffed animal, all of which you can leave in the room or in the locker you’re provided.
Your dorm can be a retreat, or the source of all kinds of things to do. The dorms sponsor everything from informal competitions to weekend field trips to special dinners. The more you keep your door open, the more friends you’ll make and the more fun you’ll have.
And to keep things feeling as much like home as possible, each dorm has one or more faculty member and his or her family living in it as your “dorm parents.” They’re there for you whenever you have a question to ask, a success to celebrate, a problem to solve, or just want to do your homework at a kitchen table for a change. In fact, no matter which dorm is yours, you’ll feel so comfortable and supported, you won’t call it student housing, you’ll call it home.
