Student Involvement in Technology
RCCs: Otherwise known as residential computer consultants, these students are trained to support technology at NMH and beyond. They assist other students with technical questions and staff technology centers where people can come for help. RCCs return early to school each fall to assist with computer training at registration.
GEECS: (Group for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) The GEECS are a group of students who enjoy learning about computer technology.
SWIS Administrators (SWISOPs): Each year, two students are selected by IT to manage the student SWIS conferences. Since SWIS (School-Wide Information System) is such an important conduit of information for students, teachers, and administration, these appointments are taken very seriously and reflect great confidence in the students selected.
Minor Courses: Several minor course sections teach students how to use or support technology. Courses from web-page design to C++ programming are offered several times each year. Special courses are available to help students prepare for the AP exam in computer science.
IT Work Jobs: A limited number of students may get work job credit for working within the IT department or with the RCCs each year.
