On a cool, sunny but blustery afternoon the Hoggers hosted one of the finest and deepest teams in New England. While receiving the news that our #3 runner, Henry Colt '14, would not be available to run an hour before our scheduled start is not uplifting, NMH was not deterred from making a strong showing. Andover's first runner came within 13 seconds of tying the course record with an outstanding time of 16:54. Three other Andover runners would finish before Juan Gallardo '12 came in with a new NMH record for our course of 17:40. He was followed in 7th and 9th place by Jeff Simmonds '12 and Ian Hatch '11. Hatch is beginning to round back into shape after more than a month of rehabilitation from a knee injury. He took 22 seconds off last week's time to finish in 18:30. Had Colt been able to run, NMH would have had 4 top ten finishers. Nevertheless, the outcome of the meet was not in doubt due to the talent and the depth of our visitors. Co-captain Cameron Kelleher '11 finished 14th with a personal best of 19:24. Cam's hard work and dedication are paying off and truly making a difference for the spirit and success of this team. NMH next sent a crew of five straight runners across the finish line in 19th,20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd places. Nate Rehm-Daly, Marty Jaffe, senior Nayan Ghosh in his last race on our course, Christian Hidalgo and Edwin Hidalgo all gave excellent efforts. Christian took 14 seconds off his personal best and Edwin took off an impressive 37 seconds off of his. There were several other performances worthy of mention: Dave Donzanti took a full minute and 10 seconds off his previous best time in finishing 30th; senior and JV captain, Daniel Kang missed his personal best by 1 second; Noah Gamble, David Chardack and Jerry Wang lowered there previous best times by 12, 42 and 15 seconds respectively. We are proud of them. Next week the challenge is Choate.
