NMH News Highlights RSS Feed
What is RSS?
RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a way for computer users to gain access to new information without going directly to web pages.
RSS feeds, in effect, push headlines of new stories onto a variety of electronic devices, such as a computer or a mobile phone, so users can access the latest from the websites they're most interested in.
It might help to think of them as the free, Internet version of the old-fashioned ticker-tape news wire machines.
To view one of the NMH feeds in your RSS Aggregator :
1. Copy the URL/shortcut that corresponds to the topic that interests you.
2. Paste the URL into your reader.
How do I access RSS?
RSS/News Aggregators:
RSS/News Aggregators (also called Readers) will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial News Aggregators are available for download.
Many aggregators are separate, "stand-alone" programs; other services will let you add RSS feeds to a web page. Yahoo! and MSN users can add RSS feeds to their My Yahoo! and MY MSN pages; to make this easier, you can click on the "Add to My Yahoo!" or "My MSN" button to the right of each feed above.
Popular RSS Readers:
Download an RSS reader to collect and display syndicated feeds. They include
Pluck,
SharpReader,
FeedDemon,
and NewsGator.
Weblogs:
Another way many people use RSS feeds is by incorporating content into weblogs, or "blogs." Blogs are web pages comprised of usually short, frequently updated items and web links. Blogging as a publishing tool is used for many purposes including traditional journalism, personal journals, and group discussions on a given topic.
