Recreational Sailing

Recreational Sailing  Students will learn all the necessary components of safely handling a sailboat. Sailors will learn how to set up a boat for the given weather conditions, and how to sail under most of the conditions that wind and water create. Instruction in how to right a capsized boat, care and upkeep of boat and equipment, and right-of-way rules of the sea and competitive sailing will be taught. The school maintains a small fleet of 420s on Spofford Lake in New Hampshire for twice-weekly sailing days, and a trip to Boston Harbor sailing Rhodes 19s comes toward the end of the term of instruction.
