March 9, 2017 — NMH dancers were selected to perform at the Regional High School Dance Festival, to be held March 23–26 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. They will perform two recent pieces on the main stage of this prestigious gathering of high school dancers.
“Half-life” (shown above), choreographed by Anna Martin ’18, will be presented as part of the student choreography showcase. It will be danced by Chianna Cohen ’18, Maggie Dunbar ’17, Natalie Foster ’20, Elyse Kassa ’18, Anna Martin ’18, Lana Ryumina ’18, Annika Voorheis ’20, and Jessica Yang ’17.
Ellie Flynn ’20, Elyse Kassa ’18, Wendy Matt ’18, and Julia Zhao ’19 will perform “CodeDance” (shown at left) at the festival gala concert. This piece was made collaboratively by dancers and computer programmers Lily Lin ’17 and Isabella Lombino ’18.
In addition to performing, the NMH dancers will attend performances, workshops, and lectures from college and university dance faculty and professional artists. They will also attend a dance program college fair.
Each day dancers will take master classes in technique and somatic practice, and will have the opportunity to audition for college and summer dance programs.
