As we celebrate the upcoming Diversity Day one week from today (Thursday, February 16th) we have prepared a very special "Diversity Day Eve" program in lieu of Study Hall Wednesday evening. We are please to welcome Grammy-nominated acapella group, Sweet Honey In The Rock®, to NMH!
Founded by Bernice Johnson Reagon in 1973 at the D.C. Black Repertory Theater Company, Sweet Honey is an internationally renowned a cappella ensemble. Rooted in a deeply held commitment to create music out of the rich textures of African American legacy and traditions, Sweet Honey In The Rock possesses a stunning vocal prowess that captures the complex sounds of Blues, spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, Hip Hop, ancient lullabies, and jazz improvisation.
This required special event will begin at 8pm in Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 15th and will conclude by 10pm (day students are welcome to spend the night in their own dorms). You can find out more about the group and hear samples of their music by visiting their website at the following link: http://www.sweethoney.com/home.php
