Northfield Mount Hermon School is hosting "Race is the Place," a summit on diversity, October 24 and 25. The mini-conference is designed to let faculty and students explore issues such as diversity, equity, social justice, and multiculturalism.
University of Massachusetts assistant professor TreaAndrea Russworm will present the keynote, "Playing the Ghost: Video Games and Racial Representation in the Media," on Sunday at 3 pm in the Rhodes Room. Russworm studies race, popular culture, and psychoanalytic thought, with a particular focus on the civil rights era.
The summit will also feature Korim the Poet, who was on the Austin Under 21 Slam Team in 2006 and 2007. Korim will perform at 9 pm on Saturday in Blake Student Center and will hold a workshop session called “Poetry and Spoken Word,” on Sunday at 4 pm in the Rhodes Arts Center.
