NMH Dancers Beg to Differ

MOUNT HERMON, MA—The Northfield Mount Hermon School Dance Companies present their fall concert, Begging to Differ, November 8 to 10 at 7:30 pm in the Grandin Auditorium. The program includes faculty choreography by Gretel Schatz, the school’s dance director, who leads the Senior Dance Company. Amanda Chapin, the director of the Junior Company, also choreographed pieces for the show. Dancers will perform a work by guest choreographer Allison Boyd, a member of the class of 2003, and an intern for NMH’s Center for International Education.

Student choreographer and senior Althea SullyCole will offer a modern dance quartet using dialog. Seniors Britt Lilienthal and Rebecca Gillig present a modern dance duet about curiosity. Junior SoMi Ha created a traditional Korean dance about releasing sorrow. Senior Ilana Teitleman choreographed a modern quartet with interdependent duets on how relationships evolve among small groups. Senior Tiffany So created a funk trio dance.

Snapdragon Dance Group will be performing a dance directed by Gretel Schatz exploring female personas depicted by pop music. The Junior Company will perform a swing- meets-slapstick dance. The Senior Company will share a hard-edged modern-jazz fusion dance.

Tickets are $5 general admission; $2 for students, children, and seniors. Call 498-3017 for ticket reservations. Shows generally sell out quickly. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Invisible Children.
