Sweet Sounds at NMH A Cappella Festival
GILL, MA—A cappella groups from Smith College, Dartmouth College and St. Mark’s School joined two singing groups from Northfield Mount Hermon School at its fourth annual A Cappella Festival November 4.
The Dartmouth Aires, Smith’s Groove and the St. Mark’s School’s male a cappella group joined NMH’s own Hogappella and its new female a cappella group, the Nellies to serenade the crowd with intricate harmonies unaccompanied by musical instruments. The event took place at 8 pm November 4 in the Blake Student Center on NMH's Gill campus.
The event was a benefit for a war memorial in Sunderland. Members of the Graves family of Sunderland, including Bradford Graves ’72 and Hollis Graves ’75, are working to erect a war memorial that will bear the name of Sunderland members of the military who died in battle, including Ensign Richard Campbell Graves, the brother of Bradford and Hollis. Richard was a Navy wingman whose airplane was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967. Donations of $1 or more at the door are requested to help honor those who have served their country.
