NMH Presents Music Director's 25th Sacred Concert

GILL, MA—A tradition for 113 years, Northfield Mount Hermon School’s Concert of Sacred Music passes another milestone this spring: Sheila Heffernon, NMH’s music program director, has been conducting the concert for a quarter-century. Alumni who studied under Heffernon are invited to come to celebrate this event, as is the public.

The performance, on May 20 at 2:30 pm at the Auditorium on the Northfield campus, will feature selections from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, a cantata (containing vocal and instrumental music) based on medieval poems. Compositions from Brahms, Bach, Hovhaness, Paulus, Wilberg, and Porpora will also be played.

Music from the Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra, NMH Singers, Select Women’s Ensemble, Alumni Choir, and Chamber Orchestra will fill the large auditorium. Heffernon directs the chorus, and Martin Klueh conducts the orchestral music. The concert is free and open to all.
