NMH Upward Bound Program Seeks New Ninth-Grade Participants
The Northfield Mount Hermon Upward Bound Program is currently recruiting new students from Springfield Central High School, the High School of Science and Technology, and Holyoke High Schools. The program is a federally funded, year-round college preparation program for students who meet income eligibility or whose parents do not have a bachelor’s degree. Students who are accepted receive tutoring, academic advising, after-school classes, and college and financial-aid application assistance in their local high schools until they graduate. Participants also spend six weeks each summer in a residential program on the Northfield Mount Hermon campus where they take classes, receive tutoring, and take part in college and cultural trips, career exploration, sports, and many other activities. Full scholarships to cover the $20,000 cost of this program are awarded to all students who are accepted. Applications are available in the guidance offices at each school and on our website, www.nmhschool.org/upwardbound. Current ninth graders interested in the program should come to one of these information sessions with a parent or guardian. Students whose parents attend will be given priority in the application process.
