NMH Junior and Senior Dance Companies Present Body Language
On November 4, 5, and 6, Northfield Mount Hermon School’s junior and senior dance companies will present a series of original dances entitled Body Language. All proceeds will benefit the Hurricane Katrina Relief effort.
Highlights include a jazz dance set to music by Earth, Wind & Fire; a dance for ten sailors set to sea shanties; and “Brothers in Arms,” a duet with Martin Shedd ’07 and Ralph Craig ’08 in response to Hurricane Katrina’s devastation. Craig is a New Orleans native whose family was affected by the hurricane.
Dance program director Gretel Schatz, dance teacher Laurel Salvi, and Ella Thorne-Thomsen ’06 of Conway choreographed the pieces. NMH Dance Company members from the Pioneer Valley include Emily Schweitzer ’07 (Northampton), Carla Cevasco ’07 (Bernardston), Chelsea Brunetti ’07 (Amherst), Aja Kane ’08 (Gill), Caitlin Orner ’07 (Greenfield), Ceridwyn Eli ’07 (Northfield), and Sonja Favoloro ’09 (Northfield).
Performances will be at 7:30 pm on November 4, 7 pm on November 5, and 2 pm on November 6. They will take place in Grandin Auditorium on the Northfield Mount Hermon campus in Gill. Tickets range from $2 to $5 and may be reserved by calling (413) 498-3017.
