NMH Floats the Musical Titanic
February 14, 2006
NORTHFIELD, MA--Don’t think James Cameron: NMH’s staging of the musical Titanic is based on the book by Tony-award winning librettist Peter Stone, who also wrote the acclaimed play about our founding fathers, 1776. Titanic features beautiful music and a compelling story. All its characters were actual passengers on the ship.
Titanic is about humankind's hubris, its ability to accept responsibility--or deny it. It is about immigrants’ wanting a better life in America, and about prejudice they face. Despite the ultimate tragedy, there are many moments of humor, uplifting music and even dancing! And the play’s message is ultimately about hope.
NMH students are bringing this all to life in four shows February 23, 24 and 25 at Silverthorne Theatre on the Northfield campus. The February 23 show begins at 7 pm. The February 24 show begins at 7:30 pm. And the February 25 shows begin at 2 pm and at 7:30 pm. Tickets cost $2 for NMH students, faculty and staff and $5 for all others. A few may be available to the general public. They may be reserved by e-mailing drowland@nmhschool.org (Make sure you receive a confirming e-mail before making the trip to the school.)
