NMH Speaker to Examine
Israel-Hezbollah War

September 20, 2006

GILL, MA—Middle East expert Ted Thornton, who is on sabbatical from his post as chair of the history and social science department at Northfield Mount Hermon School, will be the first speaker in NMH’s State of the World series. He will speak about the war between Israel and Hezbollah this summer. Thornton, who visited Lebanon in March, will be joined by Alexander Fischer ’01, who was a graduate student in Beirut during the conflict. Together, they will offer a look at life in the Middle East, and will examine the root causes of the war.

The speech will take place Sept. 28, in the Rhodes Room of Beveridge Hall on the Mount Hermon campus in Gill at 6:45 pm. This free address is open to the public.
