Queen Bees Author Wiseman to Speak at Northfield Mount Hermon

NORTHFIELD, Mass— Rosalind Wiseman, author of the New York Times bestseller Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence, will be speaking at the Northfield Mount Hermon School on December 6.

Wiseman is cofounder of the Empower Program, a non-profit organization that empowers youth to stop the culture of violence. An advisory member of the Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence, she is the recipient of the Donner Foundation’s 21st Century Fellowship. Queen Bees has recently been made into a feature film, Mean Girls.

Wiseman’s visit to NMH will include an all-school assembly in the afternoon, with clips from Mean Girls and discussions about class, race, sexual identity, substance abuse, gender, bullying, harassment, and dating violence. In the evening Wiseman will meet with NMH house directors as well as day and local parents.

The all-school meeting will be in the Auditorium on the Northfield campus, and will last from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. For more information, call Pamela Lester in the dean’s office at 498-3423.
