NMH Upward Bound Program Seeks New Ninth-Grade Participants

NORTHFIELD, Mass—The Northfield Mount Hermon School Upward Bound
Program is seeking new students from Springfield and Holyoke High
Schools. A federally funded, year-round college preparation
program for students who meet income eligibility or whose parents
do not have a bachelor’s degree, Upward Bound helps students
develop the skills and motivation to be successful in high school
and to go on to college. They receive tutoring, academic advising,
after-school classes, and college application assistance in their
schools until graduation. Summers are spent at NMH where they take
classes, receive tutoring and career exploration assistance, go on
college and cultural trips, play sports and many other activities.
Full scholarships worth up to $20,000 are available.
Current ninth graders interested in the program are encouraged to
attend (with a parent or guardian) the presentations at Holyoke
High School auditorium on Monday, November 15 at 6 pm, or at the
Kasparian Center on Alton Street in Springfield at 7 pm. There
will also be presentations on Monday, November 8 at 2 pm in the
Holyoke High School auditorium and on Wednesday, November 10
during the day in the Springfield High Schools.
Upward Bound advisors will be available to answer questions in the
high school libraries at lunch and after school on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at Holyoke, Tuesdays at Sci-Tech and Wednesdays at
