Stookey Receives William Morrow Award from NMH

NORTHFIELD, Mass.— Elizabeth Bannard Stookey of Blue Hill, ME received the Northfield Mount Hermon School’s William H. Morrow Award at the school’s recent alumni weekend festivities. Named in honor of former faculty member Bill Morrow, the award goes to nonalumni who have had a significant impact on the life and spirit of Northfield Mount Hermon School.

Stookey received a master of divinity degree in 1997 from Harvard and was then appointed NMH Chaplain. While at NMH she focused on enlarging student opportunities for formal worship and creating a safe, welcoming space for students of all religious heritages. She has been particularly instrumental in helping students explore their personal beliefs, to learn the confidence to accept themselves as individuals, and to develop an understanding of and respect for those who follow different spiritual paths. For several years, her multifaith services provided moving conclusions to alumni events. In 2003 she received a Certificate of Mediation.
