U. S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan to Speak at NMH

NORTHFIELD, Mass.— Steve Young, the United States Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, will present a seminar at Northfield Mount Hermon School on Friday, April 29 from 3 to 4 pm.

Kyrgyzstan, a central Asian country just west of China, was annexed by Russia in 1864 and achieved independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.   On March 24, 2005 a political coup ousted President Askar Akayev. Ambassador Young will address U. S. policies in the region and also speak about his experiences as a diplomat.

The seminar is part of NMH’s continuing State of the World lecture series, which is designed to foster greater understanding of international events in light of 9/11.

The lecture will take place in the Rhodes Room on the school’s Mount Hermon campus. It is free and open to all.
