Hart Receives NMH Lamplighter Award

NORTHFIELD, Mass.— Mary Senter Hart of Damariscotta, ME received the Northfield Mount Hermon School Lamplighter Award at the school’s recent alumni weekend. The award is the highest honor the NMH Alumni Association bestows for services to the school, and goes to the alumnus whose work on behalf of the school shines before the entire NMH community and makes a difference for current and future students.

After graduating from NMH in 1955, Hart earned a master’s degree in counseling and worked in educational administration, including alumni services. Hart’s volunteer work for NMH includes area association gift officer, member of the Alumni Council, gift chair, and reunion planner. She also implemented a project to locate all members of her class who were labeled as “missing” (a list which, due to her efforts, diminished by 75 percent). She currently devotes time to strategic planning concerning the future of the school’s recently vacated Northfield campus.

In Damarisotta, she helped revive the Wavus Camps and served on both the hospital and YMCA boards. Mary has two children who graduated from NMH, Joanne in 1979 and John in 1980.
