Save the Children’s Fries Speaks about Sudan Experience at NMH

NORTHFIELD, Mass.— Last spring, Emily Fries worked as a member of Save the Children’s emergency response team in West Darfur, Sudan. In 2003, she helped establish the agency’s presence in southern Iraq, which included opening an office in Basra and starting a landmine program for Iraqi children. On Wednesday, November 3, Fries will be giving a talk about her experiences at the Northfield Mount Hermon School from 6:30 to 7:45 pm.

In addition to working for Save the Children, Fries has taught English in Costa Rica, and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. She also runs marathons to raise money for the “Teen Smoke Stoppers” program of the St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Connecticut.

The talk, presented by NMH Amnesty International, is open to the public and will take place in the Rhodes Room of Beveridge Hall on the school’s Mount Hermon campus. Admission is free. For more information, call 413-498-3339.
