Suicide …
February 11, 2005
NORTHFIELD, Mass.— The Northfield Mount Hermon School Theatre
Department will present For Colored Girls Who Have Considered
Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf for its winter production.
Written by Ntozake Shange, the play is known as a “choreo-poem”
in that it has no plot and all the dialogue is in poetic form.
The characters are seven African-American women who relate their
personal stories of growing up in the 20th century. The women do
not have names and are known only by the color of their clothes.
The play’s mood ranges from silly to heart-wrenching, and never
fails to move.
Featured are Crystal Jones '06, Khrystin Bryant '06, Courtney
Fields '06, Alexandria Sheba Wilson '07, Faridat Arogundade '07,
Amani Kancey '07, and Alexis Mendez '05. The play is
directed by David Rowland, co-director Alicia
Goldsby, and assistant director
Blisse Wilkinson '07. Live jazz accompaniment will be
provided by
Ron Smith.

February 25 and Saturday February 26 at 7:30 pm. All
